Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy, and how can it help me?

Therapy, also known as counseling or psychotherapy, is a collaborative process between you and a trained therapist to explore your feelings, behaviors, and thoughts. It can help you gain insight into yourself, develop coping strategies, and improve your overall mental well-being.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can benefit anyone experiencing emotional distress, life transitions, relationship issues, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges. If you’re struggling to cope, therapy offers a supportive environment to explore and address these concerns.

What types of therapy do you offer?

Our therapists are trained in evidence-based practices to support your unique journey. We offer various therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based therapies, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and more.

How long does therapy last, and how often do I need to attend sessions?

Therapy duration varies depending on your goals and progress. Some people benefit from short-term therapy (a few sessions), while others may engage in longer-term therapy. Session frequency typically starts weekly and may decrease as progress is made.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Your sessions are private, and information discussed is protected by ethical and legal standards. Exceptions include situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others or as required by law.

How do I choose the right therapist for me?

Finding the right therapist is crucial for a successful therapeutic relationship. Consider their expertise, approach to therapy, and whether you feel comfortable and understood during your initial sessions. We encourage you to ask questions and discuss your expectations openly.

Do you offer teletherapy (online) or in-person therapy sessions?

We offer both teletherapy (online) and in-person therapy sessions for your convenience and comfort.

How much does therapy cost, and do you accept insurance?

Therapy costs vary based on session length, therapist credentials, and insurances. We accept various insurance plans. Contact us for more information.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling an appointment in order to avoid a late cancellation fee. Please contact the office to cancel or reschedule appointments.
Missed, canceled, or rescheduled appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a $100 charge for therapy visits. This is not covered by insurance and will be charged to the credit card on file.

What can I expect during the first therapy session?

The first session, often called an intake or initial assessment, focuses on understanding your concerns, history, and therapy goals. Your therapist will ask questions to get to know you better and discuss how therapy can support your well-being.

How can I get started with therapy?

Getting started is simple. Contact us to schedule a free, 15 minute consultation or ask any additional questions you may have. We’re here to support you on your journey to better mental health.
